"…Here I am, alone from my window, crying unwillingly. Who's bloody willing to cry!" sings Andrea Rockdiva in "…Y LE HAGO COSQUILLAS" (And I Tickle Him). Who's bloody willing to hear fussiness?

The ROCKDIVAS are combative, with some pop-rock that's at times stylised, tough at other moments, sometimes positive and sometimes sad. Five women who represent five ways of understanding this business of living and singing.

It all begun some years ago with a rock and roll band called LOS DESPRECIABLES. From there they spring the initial guitars by Seni del Castillo and Josele "Bulldog" Marín. Also mine. From there they spring some piano parts by Mauri Corretjé and the voices of Yoly, Ana and, later, Andrea and Inma Rockdivas. Carolina, the fifth Rockdiva, was on board from the beginning, but she didn't sing with LOS DESPRECIABLES.

We had everything -the voices and the songs, so we recorded the voices and did the mastering at "Trak" studios in Madrid with Kepa Madrazo at the technical side. So… here you are! Click through the site and you'll find all sorts of information on everything and everybody. From the guts to the heart.

ROCKDIVAS: "Please, let us do some backing voices, because the world has tits" (Claro García, Poet)

Javier Lago, --singer with LOS DESPRECIABLES, actor ("El Bola", "Morirás en Chafarinas", "Al Salir de Clase") -says that Ana Rockdiva Chavarri is the light. Many people remember her as the funny and natural "Megatrix" hostess, but few people know that she also writes books, is an actress in alternative drama groups and sings. She sings a lot, whether it's rock and roll with LOS DESPRE or the three songs on the ROCKDIVAS CD.

The first thing that surprised me was her charm and friendliness. Later, how hard she worked and her talent. And, last but not least, her nerve. I met her when she was a well-known TV hostess and she was willing to try everything, most of all singing. She joined LOS DESPRECIABLES and almost simultaneously we had the chance to arrange Antonio Vega's "El sitio de mi recreo" (Mi Playground) so she could sing it live on TV. She did it and it was something else.

I showed her some songs and she fell in love with two of them: "DEBAJO DEL PATIO" (Under the backyard) and "HERMOSAS DESPEDIDAS" (Beautiful Farewells). Later, we did "MI UNICA MENTIRA" (My Only Lie). You'll find more information on it at the songs section. Ana herself will tell you more at her section. Click on it.

Ana Rockdiva: you are great.

Andrea Rockdiva. `Philologist, choreographer and singer. The youngest of the ROCKDIVAS is a multimedia, complete woman, ready to fight. We met by chance, thanks to Marianne Ox, her singing teacher at that moment. Then I went to see her perform in a musical play. Andrea is one of the leading actresses in a company devoted to musical theatre; they stage a couple of plays every year. She will tell you more things of her theatre company.

Actors use the expression "diving into the pool" when people give 100% of themselves. Andrea did a double loop, diving into the water in an impeccable way, practically with no splash, cleanly. I had to sign her and she responded perfectly. A few months later, she joined LOS DESPRECIABLES.

We worked on the ROCKDIVAS tunes, we demoed and rehearsed them and we went to "Trak" studios. The results are there for you. Four neat songs (at least for me). We'll talk about them.

Andrea Rockdiva: you are the future.

Carolina Rockdiva Méndez. Model, dancer, economist and singer. The first thing you see in her is her beauty, then her good humour and her dedication to work. Our particular Suzanne Vega plays guitar, writes and is one of the sweetest voices in the ROCKDIVAS.

On the other hand, she got hooked with the songs I presented to her. She worked on them, and we rehearsed and recorded them. Day by day she really surprised me. Let me tell you that back then she worked as one of the Telecupón girls, and don't forget how many jokes there are about these girls. They are wrong. You should see Carolina singing while playing on the guitar some minor chords and really difficult things without a hint of hesitation.

These musical qualities, her sense of rhythm (the dancing), her voice and her beauty gave me the strength I needed to believe that all of this is worth the effort. Seriously, it was worth trying. Now here it is. Check it yourself. Her delivery of "DEPENDO DE TI" (I'm Depending on You) is pure sweetness.

Carolina Rockdiva: thanks, Carola. You're the living proof that clichès are mostly wrong.

Inma Rockdiva Corrupción. Worker, penniless writer and singer. The first time we met, we argued. Sometimes she knows how to hit you right in your jaw. But most times you laugh. You talk and you laugh. And so on up to friendship. Then, some day she sang and… what a character! She'll hardly sing the same song twice in the same way. Her mind goes so fast that she cannot… Because she's the real thing, a bit beaten but she remains true. Some people have taken advantage of her generosity, but she doesn't lose it, she just measures it out.

It took us some time to adapt the songs to her personal singing, but when you are so willing to work, to learn, to develop as an artist (whether it's as a singer or as a writer), the results are really inspiring. She'll tell you more at her section.

Inma Rockdiva: your complicity and approach to life gives me life.

Yolanda Rockdiva Aragón. "Granaína", worker, mother and singer. In Almuñécar, her hometown, she sang with metal band "Caín"; with them she did some recording and a lot of gigs. Her dedication onstage led her even to almost give birth while she was singing rock and roll. Life has many ups and downs, and she ended in Madrid: we met on the corridors of a TV network and our collaboration started there, both in LOS DESPRECIABLES and in ROCKDIVAS.

Full of energy and power onstage, coming as she did from heavy metal (although she's an amazing singer of "saetas": just listen to her on a song from the Uniontrack site called "LAS DUNAS DE ZAHARA" (Zahara's Dunes) and judge for yourself.) It took us some time to find the key of the two song she sings on the ROCKDIVAS CD: "SIN TI" (Without You) and "CERCA DE TU BOCA" (Close to Your Mouth) But we'll talk about the songs later.

Yolanda Rockdiva: thanks for your existence.

Last, we'll say that during the voice processing we used no digital tuning system. One might say: …no wonder how it sounds. But.. there are no lies, here: what you hear is what there is.

Thanks to everybody.
